Humans evolved in africa, and you don't exactly need a winter jacket there to stay warm. Actually, more hairy humans were probably naturally selected out of the population because they overheated in the summer sun too easily, so over time humans lost (most of) their body hair.
Because humans are so intelligent, however, when we migrated to colder temperatures, we were able to make cloths or skins that kept us warm at higher latitudes than africa.
So, basically we need cloths because our boddies are built for warm weather, therefore loosing heat quickly to avoid overheating in africa. That causes a problem when it's cold out though, so we wear cloths to counteract that adaptation.

We require clothing to insulate us from the cold. Humans die very quickly from exposure to temperatures lower than sixty degrees or so.
This suggests two things:
First, we are probably tropical creatures. If you lived closer to the equator, you wouldn't need clothing to keep warm. You would feel comfortable naked all year around.
Second, we are smart enough to make clothing so that we can exploit food resources in higher lattitudes.

Well we as humans have evolved over time. We have developed ways for creating shelter from the outside elements. The hair on our bodies became thinner over time since it wasn't being used for practical reasons. We still have hair, its just not as much. Its like wisdom teeth or an appendix. These things helped us at one time but now there unnecessary so theoretically the humans just as any other species will adapt to changes like these over time.

We are intelligent species that are able to adapt from the environment using logical thinking that we can act it out as soon as we want to.... Animals changed over the years to adapt from the environment.

<>Evolution has (mostly) removed human's fur-bearing capabilities (although some people seem to be throwbacks! :). Because we started using shelter and eventually clothing, our need for warm-air trapping fur and hair has dissipated. If we started living nude in the open all the time, eventually we would start growing hair or fur all over our bodies, again.

We're a different kind of animal. Every animal is equipped with the know how to keep themselves warm. WE have our brains to devise methods of warmth for ourselves.
