My friend, I know that you are not alone! I haven't even started shopping yet because I have to take care of my bills first. I am also married , so my wife and I have merged bills! :)
Christmas is supposed to be only for Christ. When I grew up, like most of us, my Grandparents talked about Santa, and even said if you were awake when Santa came, he'd put pepper in your eye. Am i the only one who ever heard this?
Even though they talked about Santa, they always told me that Jesus is the reason for Christmas. It was a very unique way to grow up. They never talked about Santa as living forever, or being above Jesus. He was just a man who lived at the North Pole who had raindeer and the whole nine that received your letters and answered them based on how good or bad you were.
Then when I found out he wasn't real, just like the tooth fairy, they told me that they did this as a childhood game with me.
But, Jesus was never a game. I heard about Christ everyday, and how He is the head of this family, and how He loves you.
I say all this to say that it is okay for you to dislike Christmas. In fact, Jesus said that we should celebrate his death, Easter, not his birth. But I'm sure, as we all are that the Lord knew we would celebrate Christmas. A lot of people disagree with the date too, as you may have heard, but I just think of it as a time for unity with family and friends, just like Thanksgiving and Easter.
Religions should not be a question. Everyone should be called to Relationship, not religion. If you believe, God should be the focus of your life everyday, not just Sunday and definitely just Christmas. Do things from your heart, not your head. It is your heart that God knows anyway.

WHOA!! chill. You are flying too close to the sun.
To your own self be true. If you are buying into all this stuff you hate & do not believe in, then you are hating yourself. It takes guts to go against what others expect of you, So would you rather sit & stew or release some of the pressure on yourself? Too many parties? Don't go. Not religious? Don't pretend, & stay away from services. Traffic & packed checkouts? Schedule around it as much as possible. Buy less. Eat less. Accept the weather like you do the rest of the year.
OK. Many of us are depressed around the holidays, You are not alone. We get through the best we can. What I suggested above, I do as a way of coping with it. Which creates less stress on me. Which makes it easier to get through it for another year. Oh, yes, also take the effort to do something good for someone who really needs it, then tell NO ONE. That helps more than anything else. Good luck surviving another one.& remember it is just another day. Enjoy the day you are living in.

You can feel however you want to feel about Christmas. It's your own personal opinion. I really don't get why it's so hyped up so much but you have to understand the reason for the season. Forget the religious aspect of it. It's the perfect time for families to get together.Kids are out of school for like a dang month. Before I met my fiance, I always disliked Christmas because it made me depressed. But now I have a new family to spend time with and make memories with.

If you spend too much time hating anything, you become your own worst enemy. The negativity in your mind will bring you down. Look at it this way. By mid January this will all be forgotten so why let it get the best of you now? If you just chill out and try to enjoy it while it lasts, you might find you won't hate it as much as you thought.

it's ok if thats how you feel theres nothing wrong with hating christmas. i personally dont. but my boyfriend is albanian and his family dont celebrate christmas and the people i work for are also albanians and they dont celebrate either. they make the best of it and decorate for the american people that do celebrate it. (it's a restaurant).. commercials are annoying and so is the traffic and shopping. i'd rather do all mine online and this year i probably will.

I hate the commercialism- go volunteer at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen- that will help= there is a need out there to give-and you shall receive= remember that Jesus is the reason for the season- not greed- it is about Him- Feliz Navidad!! D

Absolutely, especially since the stores start with their crap in October...hate on...but try not to give yourself an anxiety attack. It's best to moderate your hate. It's a hassle, expensive and you can never make everyone happy. There's just too many obligations, and obligations make me bitter. Try to take solice and comfort in the egg nog (it is the one bright spot of the season)and look forward to it being over.

Yes. Christmas does really represent the absolute worst in America. But, after all, so many stupid greedy people do deserve their own holiday.
And a Merry Stupid Day to you also, neighbor.

I don't like the busy-ness of the holiday season, going into debt because gifts are expected and any of the crowds. It isn't really the correct birthdate of Jesus Christ, so, I guess it's ok to hate the holiday.
