my classm8s n i are trying to this problem so I need help... plzzz show how u did!!!

* are the questions.

1. it cost $1.50 per day to place a one-line ad in the classifieds plus a flat service fee. one day costs $3.50 and four days costs $8.00.

*write a linear equation in point-slope form that gives the cost in dollars, y, in terms of the numer of days the ad appears, x.

*find the cost of a six day ad.


2. you are flying from Houston to Chicago. you leave Houston at 7:30 am. at 8:35 am, you fly over Little Rock, a distance of 455 miles.

*write a linear equation that gives the distance in miles, y, in terms of time, x. let x represents the number of minutes since 7:30am.

*approximately what time will you arrive in chicago if it is 950 miles from houston?

first of all, if you leave the numbers out of your words, you would't be so confused on the math. just a suggestion.

for the equasion, create a graph, with x,y coordinates, ya kno, the one that looks like a big 'L'...... on one side, put the cost, and the other side, put the number of days. put a point where the two meet for the amount of money it costs for which days.

same with the other quiestion. on one side, put the location, and the other side, put the time. the line will determine the number of miles. at the vetex of the graph, you will start at 0, at the 8:35 mark, you will put 455.

extend the graphs to reach the answer you are looking for.
