Whoa! my ex g/f was an amateur poet, she (almost) fell for that scam. don't do it. I entered "poetry.com " in google and I got a few shocks! When I showed her what they were really like she declined their kind offer.

I would say this is a definite 'scam' - as such.
And although others say don't touch it with a barge pole - I say to own a book with one or more of your poems in for $49 !!!!
Is it that bad. Something to keep for posterity. Most people will pay that sort of money for a dinner or more than that for ,for instance , for avoidable credit card charges etc etc.
Ok the book will never be published openly.
I hope it isn't your only chance of being in print, but, also, it may be.
Best wishes with your decision. As always , make it and move forward.

No, it's a scam. They send that to everyone. Don't do it. It's not really published, they just throw together a book of everyone who sent money, and they make a mint off of it, because it doesn't cost them $49 to publish a book.

Yes. And whilst you've got the check/cheque book out, you might want to consider sending me your account details so I can pay you some funds in to your bank from the disposed ruler of Nigeria.

No. The entire thing is just a scam appealing to your pride. A real contest wouldn't charge you.

No Brad do not participate! Any time you are asked for money it's the first red flag for a scam.
