The ratings are made by a panel of people (mostly or completely parents I think). The ratings are more of a guideline for parents to know what they want their children watching. Basically that means that the parents on the panel have reviewed the movie and voted that they wouldn't let their children under 17 watch an R-rated movie without them being there, or in the case of PG-13 movies they wouldn't let their children under 13 watch the movie alone.

Yes I think the ra ratings are appropriate. Yes, you may be "mature " enough to handle these movies but there has to be some sort of standard and cut off for those children who aren't. Children are impressionable and Good lord can we say that's all we don't need.

depends on the movie. But they should rate the news they show, some of that deserves an R for violence.

i think our kids now a days are growing up too fast. No It's not good to watch these movies at such a young age...first there is a reason that these movies have rating. its scary that so many young people don't think a movie is to violent to watch. its because they have seen so much and such early ages that it does not bother young people any more. I swear movies that have scared me to death or grossed me out, or were just way to nasty..........are watched by 10 yr olds. enjoy your youth and try to remember you time to grow up will come...till then stay sweet.
