Yes i think India has a very good chance of winning the world Cup, primarily because of the following reasons
1)India Have toured west Indies recently where world cup is going to be played, therefore most of the players will know what to expect there(the margin of defeat there were also very just, remember).
2)There will be no steep bouncing pitches like one's in south Africa which trouble most of the Indian batsman.
3)Pitches will be lot spin friendly, certainly more helpful than in south Africa, which is India's prime weapon in terms of bowling.
4)Besides it will be world cup, everyone will give 120% because seniors will know this will be their last world Cup, newcomers will know if they don't perform here, they will be out of the squad.Hence won't be getting contracts for future advertisement.

My Squad For 2007 world Cup will comprise following players:

Virender Sehwag
Sachin Tendulkar
Sourav Ganguly
Rahul Dravid
Yuvraj Singh
Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Irfan Pathan
Harbhajan Singh
Zaheer Khan
Anil Kumble
Shanthakumaran Sreesanth

Substitute:
Gautam Gambhir
Dinesh Karthik
Munaf Patel
Ajit Agarkar
Mandira Bedi(When she's there, opposite teams players might give away their wicket to........ Just joking)
Vikram Raj Vir Singh

Yes India surely stand a chance in winning the WC'07..
But only et only if Guru Greg et Rahul Dravid are removed from thier positions and bringin on India's best ever captain et the most aggressive un too Sourav Ganguly.

Team:
1. Sourav Ganguly (captain)
2. Sachin Tendulkar
3. Rahul Dravid
4. Yuvraj Singh
5. Suresh Raina
6. Dinesh Mongia
7. Mahengra Sinsh Dhoni (w-k)
8. Irfan Pathan
9. Ajit Agarkar
10. Zaheer Khan
11. Harbhajan Singh

12. Romesh Powar
13. S. Sreesanth
14. Mohammed Kaif
15. Virendra Sehwag

You have the best openin pair of Sachin- Sourav et Dinesh Mongia as your other opener. this gives the team enough right left combination wth pathan, sourav, yuvi, raina, et mongia being leftie and remainin righties.. it also strenghts the batting order till deep down without affecting the bowlin line up
If your regular bowlers are wacked and a score of 300+ s set dan u require specialist batsmen..
I think this is the best possible 11 Team India has as of now..

Selecting an Indian Team at this stage will be too premature as we have to see performance of many players in the currest test series against South Africa and also the ODIO series against SriLanka and West Indies before drawing up a list of players for the World Cup.

As far as India's prospect in the World Cup is concerned, irrespective of current trent i am optimistic thjat Indian team will defenitelhy make a turn around before the world Cup commences and India will be a force to reckon with in the World Cup.

properly chum,i don't know what you recommend via India consistently dropping the international cup.on your ideas India has gained the international cup in 1983.additionally India have been runners up interior the international cup of 2003.besides India entered the semifinals of the international cups of 1987 and 1996.not that undesirable an success, being semi finalists or above on 4 events out of a entire of in undemanding terms 9 international cups of cricket held up till ultimately now.possibly you adore your cricket team or your usa too plenty and choose on it to win each and every time.it is extra handy reported than performed.Even Australia who little question are a extra fit and a extra suitable team is basically not waiting to do this.you're able to remember that cricket is after all a recreation in undemanding terms and win or loss is an argument of hazard.extra so in one day cricket, win or loss relies upon on that distinctive days overall performance by myself.you will do properly to delight in in this context that such as you might have a undesirable day in place of work or college, further your cricketers too could have such undesirable days.remember that your cricketers too are human.

Indians may have a chance of winning if they are gonna use their common sense... Kick out all the youngsters & put in players who have rich experience and talent!! youngsters can start their career after the World cup... Let them wait.. But if they are not gonna do this, definitely it is gonna be australia again this time...

If I were to choose the Indian team, here is my team:
1) Sachin Tendulkar
2) Virender Sehwag
3) Rahul Dravid (vice captain)
4) Sourav Ganguly (captain)
5) VVS Laxman
6) Yuvraj Singh
7) MS Dhoni
8) Irfan Pathan
9) Sreesanth
10) Harbhajan Singh
11) Zaheer Khan

This may sound absurd, but remember majority of these players and the captain were part of the Indian team who went to the Finals of World Cup 2002...!!! And with the few additions like Dhoni and Pathan, I am sure India can win the cup. But if they are not gonna use their commonsense & go after youngsters, I am telling u this team is vulnerable enough to be defeated by a team like Zimbabwe!!!!
