He popped the question a week ago and my head's been in a whirl. None of our plans for the next 1-2 years coincide. I fear that his ideas of marriage are too idealistic. I've only been dating him a 1/2 year. I love him and do want to marry him. Too many things to consider and list here.
Anyone else have experience with a proposal after a short time of dating?

My now husband proposed after three months. I loved him and wanted to marry him but knew things had to work out before we could actually become husband and wife. So we were engaged for over a year. A proposal doesn't mean you are married, it means you are promised to be married and agree to make it totally exclusive. Other than planning the wedding, few things really have to change for a while. You will, of course, both have to prepare yourself emotionally and physically for marriage, but an engagement is not a timed thing. I had a friend who was engaged for four years. It didn't mean they weren't ready to be married at any point in those four years, just that the timing was never right.

My husband and I are very happy together and we only technically dated for three months as I said before. If you know without a doubt that you want to spend the rest of your life with him, say yes. Just make sure he knows that the wedding won't be for a bit.

That's what my then soon-to-be husband did to me. He asked me only after 6 months of dating. Like a fool I did. I have 3 great kids from my mistake. That was the longest 9 1/2 years I spent of hell. He was and still is controlling today. I'm not saying your will be like that- but be careful. Take care.

6 months is to short, tell him you need to be dating a year at least. People who want to rush marriage usually have issues.

run away as fast as you can go. then in 3 weeks call him back. if he is with someone else than you avoided a tidal wave. if not, man you were stupid for listening to me.

in all serious, talk with him and express your concerns. time will tell if you should marry him.

yeah and my advice is to wait at least a year.
we did it way quick and there was hidden adjendas in his part and maybe in my part ( secerity i could only give myself i later found out) so be cautious.
