I am 19 weeks pregnant and two weeks ago I went to my OB and she said that I had BV (bacterial vaginitis) and she perscribed me Flgyl anti-biotics. I took the full seven day dose and felt much better. It was fine for a while but this week I am feeling irritated again. It is a yellow discharge and I am feeling soreness. Could this be a yeast infection that I developed from taking the anti-biotic? I think it is highly unlikely that I would get BV again so quickly and think maybe it is a yeast infection because it is so uncomfortable. Should I take diflucan to get rid of it? I have a single dose tablet and it would be so worth it to get rid of this! Also it takes forever to get an apt with my doctor and I thought why not just go ahead and take the pill to see if it clears up and then if not I can just tell my OB when I see her next week and maybe she can check it again. Advice please? This is such a yucky feeling and I can't douche because I am pregnant!!!

You have a yeast infection probably from the anti-biotics. I don't think there is any harm in taking the pill because I have also heard that it is effective and only harmful if you try to like OD on it or something. You are taking it only once and also you are past your first trimester which is usually the most sensitive/cautious time. But still if it doesn't do any good then you should tell your doctor next week about it.
Also a lot of people are totally inaccurate when they say you can pass it back and forth because it is an infection developed from bacteria that grows in your vagina not like herpes or anything gross like that! And I agree that it is best to consult your physician but it is not like you are taking something like codeine or morphine! Come on people! It's not that big of a deal because I researched the web and read that a lot of women are given this while pregnant. Take it you'll be fine.

I think you are RIGHT ON.....yeast infection.
Whenever I take a series of anti-biotics, I always ask my doc for a Difflucan pill chaser. Because I KNOW the yeast infection will follow.
If the yellow discharge has a faint odor (some say it smells like bread, or sugary, or fishy) I'd say it is definite for yeast.
Diflucan IS SAFE to take during preg and while breastfeeding. I have had to several times. In fact, if I call my docs office, tell them I have a yeast infection, they will just call in the RX for me w/o having to 'look' at me first.
I woulnd't wait till my next OB appt. Dealing with the itching, stinging, twinging pain of a Yeast infection is not worth it. I would take the pill.
Oh...and here is the 'official info" for your peace of mind:
Fluconazole (Diflucan ®)
CATEGORY:C
More than 250 pregnancies exposed to one or several doses of less than 150 mg showed NO increase in malformation. However, Antley-Bixler syndrome (craniosynostosis, choanal atresia, radiohumareal synostosis) was seen with doses of > 400 mg/day.[G4]
BREAST FEEDING:Compatible
NEONATAL SIDE EFFECTS: None reported.
Given this information, unless you have taken several doses over 400mg/dose you and baby should be fine.
You can always consult with a local pharmacist to get their input as well.

It sounds like a yeast infection to me. I treated two while I was pregnant, and my doctor recomended Monistat 7.
Never, NEVER take any kind of pill while you are pregnant without checking with a doctor first. Many medicines cross the placenta and some can do serious harm to the baby. Some cause birth defects and some can trigger miscarriages. I don't know about diflucan in particular, but I would not chance it.
Just go buy an over-the-counter Monistat. Even though it takes a few extra days, it's worth it to not endanger your baby. I used the 3 day kind that came with this little tube of itch cream that I never used. It worked really well.

Diflucan is not safe to take when you're pregnant. So do NOT take that!
Second you shouldn't be douching even if you aren't pregnant.
Third, it still might be the BV infection, because if the antibiotics didn't kill the bacteria entirely, it could be flaring up again. But then again, it could be a yeast infection like you say.
If it takes too long to see your doctor, go to a free clinic or ask to see another doctor in her practice. Most have partners and one of those might have an earlier appointment.
Once you find out which it is, if they don't prescribe anything, you can ask your pharmacist if there are any OTC remedies that would be safe.

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes simplex virus (type 2) about 3 yrs ago, when I was still in college and had a dumb one-night stand. I know loads of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the implications for my entire life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date guys again. After all, who wants to go out with someone that has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/ahexF everything changed.
Not only was I able to eradicate all traces of the herpes virus from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just a week ago, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This system gave me back the opportunity to be happy and experience real love again. Now I hope that I can help others by sharing this story.

Beery seems to have summed up loads of the reward of having an entire penis, yet he has ignored out one significant function of the foreskin. Having a foreskin is a physically powerful indicator of the character of the girl. If she rejects you when you consider which you have an intact penis then she is in basic terms too shallow to think approximately having a courting with. EDIT:- for people who think of that for the duration of straightforward terms a woman can answer this question, i'm bisexual so i know roughly penises from the two factors of view, and my adventure with a circumcised companion replaced into at terrific disappointing. that's to no longer say i might turn somebody down because of fact he replaced into circumcised, there is a lot extra effective than that to a courting, yet a circumcised penis is at terrific 8/10.

If your itchy and uncomfortable down in that area It is most likely a yeast infection caused by the strong antibiotics, I would call and find out if you can use monostat or something similiar to get rid of it. Best of Luck to you!

1 Diflucan isn't considered safe for pregnant women; it's 'pregnancy category C.'
2 You shouldn't be douching, pregnant or not, with discharge or not.
3 Talk to your doctor. Failing that, you need to find a nurse or pharmacist you can trust and get easy access to.

Never take anything when pregnant until your OB checks you & she may not want you on the rx. Make a apt, do not self medicate!
