2 years is a long time. I think the Conservatives will regroup.
So far the Democrats are saying all the wrong thing - power does that to you. My guess would be Mitt Romney, he looks & sounds like a president already. He has a great record, no skeletons in his closet but being Mormon. The survey done this week said 98% would vote for a Mormon - erasing his biggest hurdle. As Gov. of Mass., he gets press but does not have that Washington power stench. He is conservative but not overly so since he believes abortion should be a choice in some cases.
2 yrs of our current Congress ( that is who makes laws & controls our economy - president can veto but not really control )
will cause economy problems. If they force a cut & run, the world will be heating up as other countries will small weakness.

I'm pretty certain the Democrats have a better than even chance to take the presidency....but even if another Republican gets in, the Republicans have at least temporarily lost the faith of most the American public.
Problems: 1) huge debt 2) oil prices affecting our personal and business lives 3) threats to all middle eastern oil access and price gouging by OPEC 4) a need to move America away from fossil fuels 5) Threats to the Constitution and American freedom by the Admin and Republican Congress 6) mercury poisoning our waters 7) Iraq for about 20 reasons 8) unrest throughout the Middle East at record level 9) loss of faith in government by Americans 10) global warming 11) nuclear proliferation 12) adess of how religion should affect American government and American people....I could probably think of more....but I gotta go

As I gaze into my crystal ball: Britney Spears will be the next prez., and her biggest problem will remembering where she left her undies......
Hey, I don't know who the next president will be--a lot can happen between now and then. You can bet that one of the problems will be the Middle East. Iraq will still be a mess, and North Korea will have either bombed something or still be threatening to do so. China will be gobbling up all of our manufacturing jobs, and our middle class will be almost non-existent. As our richest citizens become even richer, the whole structure of the US will be getting weaker and weaker. We will be almost ripe for the picking.
Stay tuned for part III.

I don't see any viable candidates whom don't piss me off on some issue.
I'm thinking John McCain. I think he pisses me off the least. If he could keep away from trying to change Roe vs. Wade (this is too personal to be a GOVERNMENT issue), and would do his part to SAVE taxpayers money. I think he seems like a pretty reasonable guy.
And, I don't think our problems will be much different than they are today.
