Being a Giants fan, I have to say that it'll be a while before we even begin thinking about PLAYOFFS. Yes we got some decent players and bats, but our pitching staff is...horrible right now. And cuz we lost Schmidty, that doesnt really help any. I'm seriously hoping that we can pick up Zito soon, because that would give us a good starter to build up the rotation. And I'm still not sure signing Bonds for SIXTEEN MILLION was such a good idea.

The Giants will not make it back to the World Series, or even the playoffs, until they rethink their whole philosophy on baseball. The loss of Schmidt outweighs the gains of all their other off-season acquisitions, and sadly, by committing to Bonds, the chances of the Giants getting additional free agent talent is drastically limited.

The Cardinals, Astros, Phillies, and Mets all have made, or are going to make, bigger and more significant moves, because they know that they really have to compete to make it into the playoffs in their divisions. The Giants play in the West, and the West, or the “Worst,” will be won by the Dodgers. Why? Because they are doing what it takes to build a competitive team— by going out and spending cash for big name talent.

This will not be the year of the Giant. The “old man” philosophy is a philosophy that caters towards winning in the present. Sort of a, “now or never attitude.” Honestly, I don’t think Bonds is the treat that he used to be, and even if he is, the Giants front office have not surrounded him with the bats, speed, or pitching that is required of today’s championship teams.

No. But I don't think they really want to. They just want to make there fans happy and let Barry break the record and they've pretty much just gave up on trying to win the west for this year. They let there arch rivals get there best pitcher. My feelings are they will finish up the Barry-era this year and next year start to rebuild. I know they are still trying to get Zito.

ok aurillia was thankfully never on the dodgers.

and perhaps the giants will make it to the world series again but it won't be in your lifetime. they seem to hit the world series about every 30 years or so.

good luck on your long wait and yes you should be nervous.

I think they have a good shot at the NL West title. I am not sure about the Series. There is a lot of good competition in the NL.

As soon as it snows in the Sahara. Giants suck. On second thought, you never know, its the National League. .500 record gets you a wild card.
