I have my lyrics now do i call up my guitarist and get guitar chords for the lyrics and then when thats done call up my bass and drummer and do the same,can i do that and when we got all the music for the lyrics get all together and play together.

I am not a musician...but somehow...I don't think than that is how it works.
You usually write the lyrics and the music at the same time with a piano or a guitar.
Then you call your band in and you all work together on it.

hey biye guy. have you ever heard "Spamalot" because there's this song "you won't suceed on Broadway if you don't have any Jews"
and I wouldn't do it that way. you should all get together and write it, otherwise the continuity will suck and your chords won't all fit. (yes I am a music major, so this is what I do). you HAVE to think of it as a whole. I always write the music first and set it aside until the lyrics pop into my brain. but if you do it the other way, I suggest putting yourself back in the place you were when you wrote it. also, you could even try to simply write a figured bass and go at it like jazzers and improv it. that is the best way to write a heart felt song, cause you do what feels right!

"feel" is important make sure you convey how you want the song to feel to whomevers going to write the actual chords or notes or whatever. And make sure you work hands on and give suggestions along the way, if you jsut give em somethign you might not like what you get back. Although it would be much better for yo uto learn an instrument to get an idea of what the song should even begin to feel like.

Unless one person is writing all the parts, you all need to get together. Just show you band the lyrics and have everyone jam until you find something that works with it.
