Conjugate reflection; the wave of light is reversed. Go to wikipedia, " Reflection ( physics ) to see this and various other reflective phenomenon.

(Is it just me, or are people getting stuck on the word "reflection"? Like they can't explain any further?)

Think of it this way:

You write your "d" on a piece of paper, then go to look at it in the mirror, right?
But to do that, you have to turn it around -- basically backwards -- so it's facing the mirror, and not you any more, right?

Now the mirror reflects it right back at ya, yes... But it does not turn it back around, the way you did when you made it face the mirror. So the stem on the "d" (the sticky-up-thingy on its right) is now on its left (turning it into a "b"), but in reflecting it back to you, the mirror leaves it on the left!

And, voila! The d is now a b!

(Isn't that cool?)

I hope this helps!

That happens due to the refraction of light....As an example : why do people right the word ambulance on the ambulance car in the opp. direction?..The answer is when another car driver is driving and looks in the mirror he sees it in that opp. direction so he know its an ambulance.
