is it related to attention span

It's probably related to the innate fear that women have as a defense mechanism to protect the family. This is a generalization; however, often they are overly cautions, and thereby actually creating dangerous situations for others. They are in less serious accidents, but are the cause of many.

Another reason is that women are taught they are so special that other people should give way to their whims and mood swings, therefore subconsciously making them think they actually are superior and entitled to drive as they please, and let everyone else "deal with it".

Men drive better? That's a new one for me. Since when? Men are so agressive and rude on the highways. I bet in California all those road rage incidents were between men ,not women. Attention span? Most men I know don't even know what the meaning of attention span is. Everytime I ride with my husband, I can't believe that he has never had a wreck. For the record, neither have I. I think most women are safer drivers and pay more attention than men.

Do men drive better (presumably in an automobile)? I don't see anything backing your statement.

My experience is that both genders can act just as stupid, just as reckless and just as dangerous as each other. Men and women can ignore traffic laws in the same fashion and, apparently, with the same frequency.

If anything, men are probably more likely to get killed while driving due to a (admitted bias view here) tendency to drive too fast. Women seem to weave in and out more so they may have more but less severe accidents.

They don't! Men tend to stomp on the gas pedal, wait till the last minute to slow down for a turn, give other drivers the finger if they don't like the other driver's driving.

Women tend to follow the rules of the road. That's why the insurance rates have been better for women. I do wish they'd pull over to the side before using their cell phone, tho!

Your question is an opportunity to clear up a huge misconception.
Men do not drive better than women.

Insurance rates are highest for young males because they drive more recklessly, speed more and have more accidents. Women's driving records have gained them lower insurance rates as they tend to be the better drivers.

Indepth studies have found that the differences have little to do with skill and competence and everything to do with differences in behaviour and psychological functioning. Men in all cultures tend to be more aggressive than women, which has a significant impact on their driving. Men tend to be more aggressive and hostile behind the wheel leading to more crashes.

Levels of deviant (rule-breaking) behaviour is also higher in men.
Men are also greater risk-seekers than women, creating perilous situations for themselves and others on the road.

These differences level out with age. (which is also reflected in our insurance rates as we mature).

Men relate to mechanical devices better including cars, and this also shows up in driving.

Who told you men drive better? I would say woman have issues driving because I can't even count how many women I pass each day who are putting on their makeup in the morning. Men are more aggressive and short tempered though.

Men know where they are going, woman on the other hand are often lost, and some of us try to put on make-up in the car.

They should stop doing that or one day they will end up with a mascara wand where their eyeball should be.

Women drivers suck. Police often pull women over for speeding more than me because there are higher rates of women getting into non-alcohol-related personal injury accidents - innattentiveness being the main factor in these crashes.
