Are taxes too low or too high?

Question

Might seem like an obvious question. But before you answer, think about the consequences.

for the value we receive in return...way too high!!!

wasted gov't spending...and subsidizing laziness...I don't want to pay for that but for Healthcare, education and safety...I'd pay more for a system that works...

I think it depends on how much money the person you are asking that question has. Personally I think they are too high for the poor working class everyday individual and too low for the people with lots of money. But thats just cause I'm just the average working stiff, always gonna be on the bottom of the barrel getting kicked around. But thats ok I'm happy.

Here in the U.S., they take 33 percent off the top for federal income tax, then they take 15 percent for social "security", then there is usually a state sales tax of 8 percent when you purchase anything.

That's 56% of your money right there, and that's not even counting the gas tax, the tax on alcohol, and the hundreds and hundreds of other forms of taxes that would take all the bandwidth that yahoo has just to list them all.

So in my best estimates, we pay about 95% taxes when all is said and done.

It depends. If my tax dollars are going to schools and highway maintenance, then I don't mind. But if they are going towards a gold plated toilet seat for my congressman, then they are way too high
