By the way, she died because we had to put her down because she had LOTS of other problems. She was very old too.

YES! I just got back from the vet with my cat. This was his third time in two months for ear problems. Today they finally spotted the mites and gave him treatment. Now I have to take the other cats to be treated. Mites can also spread to people.

Yes ear mites are contegious. If you have a pet that has ear ites keep it away from the pets and buy medicine to cure them or take them to the vet emmediatly. Most definately they are contagious. If one animal has them, the others will too. Please get some meds to clear them up. Panalog is the best for ear mites. Unfortunately, it can only be gotten from a vet. It used to be over the counter, but the vets tightened up the market on it, and it's no longer available OTC.

Yes very contagious to other mamals but not to people. If left untreated, an animal can go deaf because they cause chronic infection in the ear canal. Check out the link below for more info.

Most of the time it's easy to cure but on rare occasions, it can be very difficult to cure. Good Luck!

yes, they are contagious... especially to other furry animals... if one has them, try to keep him away from the other animals, and off of carpets, bedding, sheets, toys etc... you can even get his ear mites, so get ear mite drops asap, or try flushing with alcohol or water and peroxide (dilute 1 to 5 parts peroxide to water). if the pet can get to couches, soft chairs, etc, spray with an anti-microbial spray like the febreeze antimicrobial spray. Contact your vet if they've had them for more than a few days after treatment, because it can be more serious.... if left long enuff, they can cause hearing damage to the pet, and NOONE wants that.... good luck!!!

I don't believe they are, but it drives the poor animal crazy.
I would take it to the vet, or rush to get mite drops. Put them in all your pets ears just in case.
It can only help
