jack white can't actually sing though.
not very well. none of his singing will make the hairs stand up on your neck.
very few modern singers sing very well.
popularity revolves around image, eyeliner, makeup, hair styles, and fashion.
but of course rock music isn't so much about good singing as it is about energy and stuff..... and i *do* like the white stripes and jack white a lot. they're great! nice to see them do well.
still, i stick to my point.....singing is certainly becoming a lost art.
people don't seem to care much about it now. don't talk about singing.
try the divine comedy, a band led by neil hannon, for some real singing.

Jack White is good, but they are not the best band ever in rock, everyone has their opinion on the and they like, personally my favorite rock band is Red Hot Chili Peppers or Pearl Jam.... FLEA AND JEFF AMENT ROCKS

I like The White Stripes MUCH MUCH MUCH better. Sorry.
And yeah, not many singers actually "sing" today, but I think I'd rather have it that way, for the most part.
