Eye Makeup
How do I choose a color?
Eye color should match your hair, so that means darker, smokier colors for brunettes, lighter, peachier tones for blondes, and earth tones for redheads.
How do I apply eye makeup?
To make your eye shadow last longer, first apply a white shade or lighter shade to your lids. Line your eyes with an eye pencil to help shape and open them. If your eyeliner tends to smudge at the bottom of your eye, just use pencil along the bottom of the upper lid. To thicken thin eyelashes, use a volume-adding mascara with thick bristles. For shorter lashes, use mascara that lengthens.

All you need to make your eyes stand out is concealer, eye liner and mascara. Find a concealer to cover up bags or dark circles around your eyes. Next take an eyeliner pencil and blast it with a hair dryer for 15 second. Draw a line around your eyes as close to the lash line as possible. line the inside and the outside of the lower rim of your eyes. Next take a cotton bud and smudge outwards. Finish off with mascara and lip stick. An ideal shade for any skin tones is Revlon's charcoal brown. Cheers

Don't use an eyeshadow that is the same color as your eyes. It only takes away from the natural beauty of your eye color. Try a lighter green lid color with a darker forest green accent color in the corners. Also, I have brown eyes and I find that violet colors applied sparingly with nude colors underneath really make my eyes pop when wearing cool colors like blues, purples and black.
Lining the top lid only in a coordinating color can make eyes look more open and awake.
Dabbing a bit on concealer in the corner of the eyes can give the illusion to bright and open eyes as well.
Also, one more thing....mascara is the key. Don't go overbaord but make sure to coat lashes evenly. Top lashes only for a natural wide-eyed look. Do bottom lashes too for a flirty look.

With brown eyes you can use many colors. That's because the iris has a so called shadow color. Colors, like aqua blue, moss green and purple will make them look more brown. Gold and bronze might also look great.
Shimmering eyeshadows will always put more focus on your eyes.

use a medium gray blue on your lids and a darker charcoal blue as the low light in the crease... this will make your brown eyes stand out. Be careful though, do not use anything that is really blue because it looks trashy

Lilac colors will make brown stand out! Try Covergirl eye enhancers eyeshadow. It tops the best list! See this source for why.

Do you use eyeliner ?
If you do, you can try using Blue eyeliner or slightly tinted blue/grey based eye shadows. Because of its different hue (blue at a cool hue and brown at earth hue), and contrast, it'll make your eyes stand out.
Dark makeup like heavy black liner won't do much of a trick.
