Febreeze works, but it will have to be used several times. My favorite method (I buy police auction impound cars) is the buy carpet fresh. The type used for animal odors. I sprinkle the seats and the carpets. Let it sit a day. Vacuum throughly.
Between the perfume in the carpet fresh and the baking soda it contains, the odors are gone forever.
But with cigarettte smoke, don't neglect to clean the vinyl areas and the glass. Both will have a film (and odor).

Forget the Febreeze, take the car to a detailing shop, ask for an ozone treatment and don't be talked into anything else. An ozone instrument is placed in the vehicle, it is then closed up for 8 to 10 hours and when the treatment is done the odor will be gone for good.
