I got a birthday email today. And I don't know if I agree with the trivia they put in it -- what do you think, is it true, false, bogus, nit-picking, or what? Do your best to justify your answer. Here's the email:

Here is a little birthday trivia for you...

Your actual Birthday occurs only once every 7 years!
Although you might celebrate your birthday every year, your actual
birthday only occurs once every 7 years! Not counting leaping years, the
date you were born on moves each year to the following day of the week.
For example, if you were born on Saturday March 15th, the following
year, March 15th will fall on a Sunday, the year after on a Monday, and so
on. This means your annual celebration is actually for your birth date
- not your birthday - and in truth your birth day (the actual day you
were born on) occurs only every 7 years!

Actually, the actual day you were born on --- only happens ONCE unless you are some really talented person who gets to be reborn every year, or every 7 years, however you want to look at it. This is "which came first the chicken or the egg" type of thinking, because, let's face it, every year on this earth we get one year older, whether it occurs on our birthDAY or on our birthDATE, so don't worry about it.
And, by the way, Happy Birthday!!!

Your birthDAY is the day and month your birthday occurs. Your birthDATE includes a year. I think the trivia is silly. The day of the week of your birth is not on anyone's mind - and the only people interested in this type of logic are folks who are older. If they only add a year every 7, they are in a totally different head (totally).

Peace!

that is actually true...in a year there is 365 days right so if you divide it by 7 you'll get 52 weeks and 1 day left.therefore every year your birthday gets shifted by one day.there was a proposal to make to have 364 days in a year for several reasons:so your birthday will fall on the same day ,Christmas and the new year would be exactly one week apart and on the same days but the problem with this was every 7 or so years you'll have an extra week and they didn't know where to put it.but i think 365 days in a year is better.

Your confusing "birthday" with "day of the week"
In the 2nd definition of American Heritage Dictionary (see link below), it is the "The anniversary of one's birth".
For example, President GW Bush was born 7/6/1946 (which was a Saturday). He will have (by definition) a birthday in 2007, but on a Friday.
---
Of course if you want to make matters confusing, find someone who's birthday is Leap Day (Feb. 29th).
My ex-girlfriend's mother was born 2/29/1936. But my ex-girlfriends mother is NOT 17 (if she were, I'd be in big trouble)

If birth day celebration is fraught with so much of hair splitting arguments, stop celebrating birth day. After all, what is the significance of a birth day? Strictly speaking, the sun rises as usual in the East and sets in the west. It is nothing but sentimental and satisfying your ego to commemorate some day as your birth day.

Sounds like someone is trying to get out of buying you a present. According to this logic, many holidays will only occur once every seven years.

Birthdate incorporates Date Month and twelve months while Birthday is purely your Date. while somebody ask you while is your Birthday I dont think of all people says there Month and twelve months additionally with Date. optimal people say basically the Date.

Yup I found that out sixteen yrs ago. I was celebrating my birthDATE and MONTH , then I stumbled upon little box that contains old newspapers from the DAY I was born.
It was not the same DAY I celebrated my birth DATE and MONTH at the time.
Should be birthDATE and MONTH if I want to be precise.
