Yes. As a person ages, the eyesight changes gradually. Some people's eyes should be examined regularly due to this fact. Mental activity changes also, and some people's mind wander from that which they are doing (driving) and they become dangerous on the road. Reaction time slows while the driver sticks to bad driving habits that were acquired when younger, such as driving too close to the vehicle ahead of them, which causes too many rear-end collisions. The decrease in driving speeds caused by the fact that the older driver now fears their vehicle (or can no longer read the speedometer). This causes the older driver to operate their vehicles 20 MPH below the posted speed limit, thereby causing traffic tie-ups, frayed tempers and road-rage in the more impatient drivers behind them.

I think that all of us (I'm over 50) over the age of 60 should have to take, and pass, a physical exam, or at least the eye exam, and be able to come into the office to get our licenses renewed, if not every year, at least every two years. I have recently seen a lady, obviously a senior, shaking so hard her head wasn't still for a second, driving one of those HUGE Dodge pickup trucks on a very busy street...in two lanes most of the time, and about 5 mph. I also have a friend whose mother has narcolepsy, and has renewed her license by mail for years. For those who don't know: narcoleptics can fall asleep "any time". Without warning. You wanna see that 82 Buick coming at you at 70 with a sleeping old lady in the driver's seat? brrrrrrrrrrrr

Yes I think they should. Old drivers scare me and sometimes make me mad when I am in a hurry and they are going 20 miles under the speed limit.

It is a touchy subject for the Seniors but I believe that after a certain age they should. Their reflexes, eyes, hearing does affect their ability to operate a car safely.

I'm an excellent driver for my age, and I feel the same way about teenagers.
