Well, many people notice especially how clean your house is, especially women. So no stray objects, no dusty shelves, tables, and TVs, and make sure you have a sleek and shiny floor, or clear carpet. And don't forget to have scented candles or potpourri for the house to smell good. Others check to see the decorations, you have too many antiques or decor, they think you're elegant but a big spender, so they become jealous, BAD. Too little decor, they think you're cheap, obviously BAD. So have enough decor, but not too over-whelming.
But I'm different you see, the first thing I notice is if there are too many TVs in each room, and to check if you have books and book shelves, if you do, I check what types of books you read or keep. Then if there's an interesting or familiar book to me, I ask you about it. I'm sorry, but I judge by how well-educated you are.

Honestly, the first thing I notice is the general smell. If you have pets, smokers, etc. then chances are your house is going to have a certain "aroma" about it. Invest in air freshener. Even if it's overkill you'd rather have people think you were trying too hard than not trying at all to make a good impression.

had a friend that always took a peek in the medicine cabinet and moved stuff around...very weird!
