These newer swings swivel so the baby can also rock side to side, like a cradle. Does your baby like it? It is worth the extra cost compared to a regular swing that that only rocks front to back

I used the ocean wonders swing with my son, and he loved it. He actually liked swinging side to side better than front to back. I plan to use the cradle swing with my daughter, although this time, I will use the rainforest swing that Fisher Price just put out. It's like the ocean wonders swing, plus it plugs into the wall so that you save money on batteries. You can find the rainforest swing at Babies R Us and Target.

I have a 5 1/2 month old and we bought her that new papasan swing (I think it is Fisher Price) that either swings side to side or back and forth. She loves it. I have just a regular old swing at my moms but my baby throws a fit and will not even sit in it for a minute. Definitely worth the extra money..

When it seemed like our son hit his colicky peak, we bought the Ocean Wonders. He loved the side-to-side swinging, as well as the "rain" sound effect. That swing will turn a crying baby into a happy baby in about 30s, and put a happy baby to sleep in a few minutes.

At the time, I would have said it was worth every penny. But we only wound up using it for about a week. By then, he had learned to soothe himself a little better.

I have the ocean wonders swing I got it for my daughter 2 and a half years ago. She loved it she actually swung side to side more than fromt to back. But since then one of my best friends used it for her daughter not sure what postion she liked best. Then I lent it to another friend and her little guy loved it way more than his other swing cause it went side to side. I'm 4 days overdue and just waiting to use it again. Very nice music on it, easy to clean, only down side is battery consumption. But I know there is some that you can get (not the ocean wonders) that plug into the wall so you don't spend so much on batteries. Totally worth the money

We have the ocean wonders swing, and my son LOVES it. He likes swinging side to side much better than the traditional front and back. Also, the lights and the fish hold his attention for a long time!

He's 10 months old now and has figured out how to push a large toy up to the swing and climb inside of it on his own.

The only thing bad about it is it goes through batteries pretty quickly.

My sister in law bought one of the regular front/back swings and her daughter used my son's swing just as much as her own, because she liked it better.

I don't know that the direction makes any difference. We have the swing you are talking about, and we decided baby seemed to like it best side to side when she was really small, then as she got bigger she liked it front-to-back. It swings pretty hard, harder than I thought, and the side-to-side seems most natural and maybe safest for a newborn. The swing was a lifesaver during a "colicky" time - swaddle, put her in the side-to-side, turn on that ocean waves noise at full volume... she'd finally go to sleep. She outgrew it at about 5 months, but I still think it was worth it.

We were given cradle swing and my 4 week old son absolutely loves it (he's in it as i type this)! Well, when he's not crying for me to hold him, that is. He sleeps in it all the time and it's really been the best thing someone could have given us. We also have the other type of swing, but i haven't tried to put him in it yet. He likes his cradle swing too much for me to try it.

It really works for my son, so i totally recommend spending the money.

Absolutely, my son loved his ocean wonders swing, he loved going side to side in it. He just wasn't happy swinging the normal way. I believe it was well worth the extra money.

Yes. I have the Nature's touch baby papasan swing. I don't know what I did without it. I love it and it is worth every penny. It works wonders with a colicky baby and is great when your baby is congested (because it can recline and sit up). It is definitely a must have. Plus it has neutral colors so it doesn't look so intrusive.

My baby is in his swing now (the one you're talking about) and he absolutely LOVES it!! I think he likes the fish & the colors the best but the way the swing is, is neat too but honestly, i think he enjoys the fish and the colors the most.
