I know Lance Berkman has been dubbed the "unofficial" team captain, I was just wondering if they had an "official" one. I would imagine that it'd be either Berk or Craig. I know it was Jeff when he was around.

I don't believe they have one anymore.
A lot of teams don't have an official one.

The Astros don't have an official team captain, but I imagine it would be Craig Biggio; he has spent every year since 1988 with the team.

Most teams do not have a captain. There is no need for a captain on a baseball team. It's usually given to a player who has performed at a very high level for many years and has somehow become the face of the franchise. The honor is given to the player by management to show respect and gratitude. Most knowledgeable fans consider DE-REK!!! JE-TER!! the greatest captain to have ever played the game.

I would really think it would be either Biggio or Ausmus. Ausmus is one of the smartest players around and his team really respects him.

I would believe it to be Biggo, but look for Lamb to start taking charge.
