and you're quoting something, you put that in quotation marks I know, but when a person's speaking in the beggining of the quote to you go ""double"" quotation marks or no?

I believe it is appropriate to use a single quote inside quotes. In other words, if you're quoting this: "Don't forget the milk" my mother said to my brother as he left for the store.

You would do it as such:

"'Don't forget the milk' my mother said to my brother as he left for the store."

It's not full double quotation marks. It's a single quotation mark inside of the regular ones, "'like this'"

So just use regular quotation marks with an apostrophe inside

A quote within a quote uses the apostrophe mark:

According to John Doe, "Mr. Jones stated, 'Three juveniles vandalized the car last Tuesday,' but no suspects have been apprehended."

you use double then single within the quote.

here is an example i found...

Because Douglass "got hold of a book entitled 'The Columbian Orator,'" he was able to learn how to read and broaden his mind.

(sorry, the single quote marks are hard to see here, but you can see the example more clearly on the web site i found it at- below)

If the quote of someone speaking is within a quote, you put " at the beginning, then you put ' (single quote) for the speaker. So it will look like "'i think he is exaggerating,' andrew said to her."

so... "'__________'"

It's single quotes for the quoted quote and double around that:
"and he said, 'I am not a crook'."

You would use quotation marks and the apostrophe mark.
