I am guessing it is the game that is played all over the world, but which version of football was called football first?

With the new football coaching TV channel 'footschool' testing, won;t this cause confusion when it launches world wide in January?

Actually European Football (Soccer) has been played much longer that USA Football. The funny thing about our football is that you start posessions kicking the ball with kick offs and punts and score kicking field goals and extra points after touchdowns, but the majority of the game is running with the ball or passing it.
Why is it not called Armball or Airball. LOL

You're all wrong. Rounders was known as football as long ago as three million bc. Then they changed it to rounders when the other footballs game along. This was the real football though, since the ball was made out of a foot. A leper's foot at that.

American football is basically a reverse engineered rugby variant (with more padding)

The name 'soccer' actually originated in England in the public school system, it was used to differenciate betw. rugby football and association football (as they play more rugby in public school then association football)

Soccer is basically a corruption of the name 'association football'

The only reason why soccer/football became popular w/w is because rugby was only exported to the former colonies whereas football was exported w/w british ex pat's working oversea's
