because there are a lot of different brake/Axel combinations I'm going to do my best here. it sounds like you need more than one bearing so, first things first. the bearings are not expensive and if one is bad chances are the other has been contaminated too, so get both bearings and races. the part numbers are one the flat surface of the race (the part in the spindle) and on the bearing center section. once you have them, the race can be hammered out using a punch and hammer and reinstalled. when you reinstall I suggest using the race you took out and place it on the new one then tap around the two with the hammer until the race is in place than remove the old race (It may have started to seat again) if the disc and spindle are one piece take the assembly to a shop that can "turn" them and have them resurfaced and finally, change your pads on both wheels because most of the time brakes will ware in sets so you will not have one front brake worn out and the other not. now when you put it back on the car, and tighten the Axel nut, turn the nut until the Axel/disc wont turn freely then loosen the nut just until the assembly will turn freely. place your hands on the 6 and 12 position and rock the disc/Axel assembly to check for play. if there is too much, turn the nut one flat and try again, once the is only a little play and the cotter pin holes Line up, pin it and finish putting ti back together .

When you have that wheel jacked up try to turn the tire. If it has any significant play you have a bad bearing. I haven't replaced one in a while but they cost about 30 to 40 bucks each. When you get a brake job done you should have the mechanic grease the wheel bearings. Having a mechanic do it should be about an hours worth of work at what ever hourly rate they charge. If you have front wheel drive have them check the boots. I have found that Les Schwab is pretty expensive on these repairs. Good luck.

Gosh, I've spent anywhere from $7 to $170....
Yeah, like the other guy said, make, model, yeah, type of brakes, all that stuff would be helpful.
The last bearing replaced cost $7 for the bearing, and $110 for the brake parts that broke when I took off the rotor. Go figure.

It relies upon on the make and kind of the vehicle/truck. i understand that's greater high priced to have a Pressed in bearing replaced while in comparison with a bolt in assembly. in case you stress a truck on the non stress wheels the bearings are repacked except they are broken. As for risky. If there is not any longer various play then you definately would be o.k. for a at an identical time as in spite of the incontrovertible fact that that's no longer something you prefer to worsen because of the fact the bearing can get unfastened sufficient to the place you need to unfastened the wheel at an identical time as employing. on occasion a foul bearing can in simple terms make greater than a number of noise and not be unfastened yet nonetheless that's something you prefer to get handled. value it at a community factors save. Autozone, boost, vehicle Quest etc.
