the main difference is the Pentium 4 has an old architecture while the Centrino Duo has a new and much better architecture. the most useful property of the Centrino processors (Core Duo and Core 2 Duo) is their power management, so they can be used in laptops for a longer battery life (not like the Pentiums, they need too much power so they aren't suitable for laptops).
Centrino is an Intel naming for laptop architectures and consists of 3 parts: CPU, chipset and wireless card. you shouldn't use that name when it comes to a comparison of CPUs.

Pentium 4 is a processor, Centrino Duo is not a processor at all. Surprised ? Its true
Centrino is the specification that is used when Pentium M Processor is used along with certain motherboard and if it has Wi-Fi.
Centrino Duo is definetely good since it has dual cores and dual cores gives 40 % extra performance than single core processors.
Also Centrino is the latest technology compared to Pentium.

Pentium 4 is a bit old processor.
centrino duo also known as Core duo..is a bit new..
in the market now is Core 2 duo which is damn good.
core duo is better than Pentium 4.

In modern day times, the Centrino has aged much better than the P4 has.
If you're looking for a nice older laptop to do basic web browsing on, get one with a Centrino (duo) CPU. Still runs YouTube without a problem. Of course it'll struggle with anything higher than 720p, whereas an old P4 lags, is slow, not as good as performance as it was back in the day. Centrino was better when new, and still wins.

centrino duo is more faster than p4......centrino duo runs two processors at a time......so more speed more better
