Look for people who own their own business. Heck, why not start your own business! Call every potiental employer and ask . Seeing as to the fact that your boyfriend is young and his felony might have recently occurred, it may depend on how long and the type of felony he has before anyone will hire him.
My boyfrind has a felony and works in food service, people are willing to give you a chance here sometimes. Heck my sisters boyfriend got into construction through somebody who knew sombody. Yesterday he was flippen burgers at checkers, now he earns 30 dollars an hour and has his own office at 29 years old (he got the felony at 18).
Is your boyfrind attending college maybe he should look into a work study. Contact your local urban league, they have a service to place ex-offenders in decent jobs. Go to your local unemployment office and ask them to refer you. Apply at temp services they are willing.
Trying making up a resume to submit even for basic jobs, do not list the felony. If you get an interview they may like you and be willing to waive the fact that you have a felony.
I am addressing you now b/c you asked this question and I assume you are helping him out. Being a member of such a "club" I also choose to address this situation with a bit of insight into my situation. Being with a perosn with a felony has many problems. My boyfrind works where he is able to find employment, problem is its a dead end job, with no benefits. Financilally, I deserve better and should have been out a long time ago. My boyfrined is somewhat dependant on me and I provide a lifestyle he cannot afford if I walked away. Really who loses in this situationis our son who he cannot support off part time minimum wage. Please evaluate you situation critically so you do not end up denying yourself "opportunites" that a free man can provide. I am sorry for you though girlfriend, I sometimes wish I had been more careful as to who I chose to fall in love with. Our relationship has weakend b/c of this issue and we fight about it constantly . I also believe he lacks the dicipline, and motivation to move past this curse for life situation.
If your boyfrined is acting this way, tell baby boo he's got move to the left! I am sure in St Louis he should find something becasue it is a big area (we live down state with less opportunities in Illinois) as long as you don't act like a thug or punk, carry yourself high, and never give up hope (without commiting further crimes) opportunites sometimes present themselves. Good luck!

I would see if there are any ex-offender rehabilitation services that you can join to get things back on track. Also, don't consider school a waste of time - anything you learn is useful to your future. If you have decent skills, you may want to consider starting your own company. Law enforcement is going to be a stretch if you have a criminal record, but maybe you could get another job with similar kinds of skills, such as a private detective? You may want to read the book "What color is your parachute" which you can get at a library. It has great career advice and quizzes you can take to identify career paths that may interest you.

Jiffy Lube or the like changing oil in cars. Depending on the felony he could find a janitorial job. I could be wrong but I would imagine that it's going to be hard for him to get a job anywhere dealing with people and/or money.

Contact the United Way Agencies in your community and ask for agency referrals. Find out how and when he can have that record sealed so he has a shot at starting over. Hopefully he's learned his lesson to avoid future problems with the law.
