Personally, I like the new AOL AntiVirusShield. Don't let the name AOL scare you. AntiVirusShield is made by Kaspersky which is one of top-rated anti-virus vendors in the world.

In recent tests, the most popular free anti-virus, AVG, was only able to detect about 82% of a very large sample of viruses. On the other hand, AntiVirusShield was able to detect better than 99% in the same test.

AOL AntiVirusShield has excellent virus detection rates and is extremely light on using your computer resources.

Free to anyone, AOL member or not from:

You can get a substitute free anti-virus, of course. I will recommend AOL Active Virus Shield, if you hate AVG:

But I don't see any reason of 'hating' AVG. Maybe you don't like the dull interface, but you can never have anything 'perfect'. Even Kaspersky has got its limitations.

unfastened Packs & cracked packs of Anti virus programmes wont have the technical help & u won't be in a position to call for that help on line while required. one greater element i in my opinion final year had to format my equipment 6 situations with the aid of a hacker attempting to set off some trojan into my equipment even in the presence of a cracked anti virus programme later I shifted to real one & at modern-day i'm employing Norton 360. final yet important I even have used on line help, Technical chat & additionally the distant information of the Norton human beings to confirm a number of my matters. so my propose is to apply a real %. kind is UR determination. Norton is extreme priced Kasper sky is greater value-efficient (almost a million/third of norton) yet particularly heavier on equipment while in comparison with Norton, AVg, Avast, Microsoft necessities fail to bump into modern-day threats

Do not get AOL and Yahoo anti virus stuff or any other lesser known anti virus software they have a lot of stuff that causes ads to appear a lot so you might want to go with Spy bot search and destroy and Ad-Ware even though there is nothing wrong with AVG but both of the previous work good enough

I like Trend Micro's PC-Cillin. You can download a trial copy for free. When the trial runs out only the automatic updates stop, but you can still download & install virus updates manually for free. You'll want the other updates, though. It's only like $50/year, or less if you get 3- or 5-packs.
