And it only hurts in my right knee...does anyone know why?? I do not rememeber hurting it, and I can't stand taking meds, they make me puke and feel lightheaded. Does anyone know why my knee is doing this?? My mother has gotten many opinions on it and they all don't know!! They all tell my mom that they aren't sure but they think it's growing pains!! I have had these pains for almost a year now an my other leg is starting to hurt b/c i'm putting more weight on it. Why is my knee doing this!?

You haven't really given us a lot of information here. How old are you? Are you involved in any sports or physical activities where your knee could be strained? What have the doctors said and what tests were run? Have you had any exploratory surgeries to look for anything? From what you've described, it could be "water" on your knee where you would simply wear a knee brace, all the way up to bone spurs, torn cartilage, etc. where other intervention would be required, as well as physical therapy. Explain that your pain is excessive to your physicians and your parents and your concern and ask for more tests. They may be painful, but if you really feel you have an issue more than growing pains, it's better you go ahead and get it resolved. Best of luck.

You and your mom need to insist on XRay's and/or an MRI of the area to see what's going on. It could be anything from a torn muscle/ligament, to arthritis, to something serious in your bones. Knees are funny, you may have just turned the wrong way one day, not even have noticed, and made a little tear inside. Now the scar tissue has grown and is making trouble. Any of those things are possiblities. Growing pains don't last for a year, and yes you will have pain in the other side and then your hips and back from favoring the bad knee. Insist they look further!!!!

A proper diagnosis cannot be made until you obtain an MRI of your knee to look for tissue and bone abnormalities. Just knowing that it "hurts" does not help with a diagnosis. Pain in the knee could be from tendinitis (do you play sports?), juvenile arthritis is there arthritis in your family?), a strained ligament/tendon (most likely you won't remember hurting it), etc. Its likely that the ligament or tendon was strained, and you don't remember it happening. For example, I injured a ligament in my thumb, didn't remember it happening, but it got injured so badly that I couldn't use my thumb while it took 2 years to heal. The only way they will know what it is will be through an MRI.

I highly doubt that it is a "growing pain". In fact, I think whatever doctor told you that really needs to go back to medical school to review basic orthopedic medicine!

Sorry you are in so much pain. I know how it feels. I had knee pain as a child that lasted all the way through adulthood. It was tendinitis from playing sports excessively and not receiving appropriate post-game care for my knee.

Good Luck!!

Hey there knee pain

I would love to give you an answer, BUT without more info, we can only guess.

How old ? Which area of the knee ? Is the pain only in the knee or does it radiate to any other area ? Is it piercing, dull, throbbing, intense ? How long does it last ? What is your diet ? How much exercise do you get ? Do you take vitamins ? What kind of minerals and how much do you take in ? What is your height and weight ? When did the pain first start ? Exercise - what kind ? Any sports ? Posture ? That is some of the questions that beg answers before reasonable people can possibly begin to address what might be affecting your knee .

Good Luck

No one can really tell you what is wrong from a paragraph online. However, you need an opinion from a specialist, possibly a rheumatologist, if these pains persist.

I was told I had "growing pains" for several years and thought everyone hurt that much and tried to just endure it. I turned out to have a form of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and later was diagnosed with lupus. You need blood studies done to rule these things in or out.

And if a med is making you sick, speak up! There are many alternatives and you should insist they find one you can tolerate that works for you. Don't give up, help is out there.

While so much bisexual or homosexual or lesbian men and women most commonly surprise why they're the best way they're, actually that sexuality happens obviously. Many men and women search out causes (a homosexual man performed with dolls, a lesbian had a foul enjoy with guys, a bisexual is a pretty man or woman, and so on.) for his or her orientation, however those causes don't seem to be verified. Sexual orientation is exceptional for every body and is a entirely fluid thought. We are drawn to whoever we're drawn to, in spite of our orientation, in view that it's usual for us. There's not anything improper with it and/or it is not a disorder by any means. It's very spectacular that you are 17 and have already got this kind of powerful experience of your self. Best of good fortune!

check yrself with an orthopaedic and rheumatologist.. an MRI/xray /ct scan has to be performed.. If there is fluid / water then the test becomes easier they will just take the fluid out thru a syringe and will get it tested. The possibilities are spondylitis, rheumatism, Tuberculosis or on the worst AIDS. Besides it may be due to an injury or strain which would have caused torn cartilage.

Go to a doctor until they start to listen to you. It sounds like you need to have an MRI or CT scan done to insure it's nothing serious. Also find an orthopedist instead of a reg. doctor. Since they see more. You could also try going to a chiro. - they might help. Regular massages might help too with pain levels and tension within your whole body because of this knee thing.

I think you need to find a doctor who will take your problem seriously. Second opinion time.

You could have turned wrong and injured your knee. You could have something growing there that shouldn't be there. You could have arthritis.

Have your Mom help you find another doctor. One who will do some tests, like an MRI.

Are there any more symptoms? Are you fatigued, cranky, losing your memory? If so then you might have Lyme's disease. If you live in a woodsy area or even own 1 pet that is an inside/outside pet, than you could have Lyme's disease. I did, and I remember my knees killing me. Lyme's will almost always come back negative if it is in it's early stage. Just try getting tested for it. If you have it, they'll give you a round of anti-biotics and you'll start to feel like your old self again
