Cologne or after shave usually goes over well. If he's a big sports fan anything having to do with 'his' team --- t-shirt, coffee mug, tickets to a game, would probably be very much appreciated by him. If he's into hunting, fishing, golf, etc. get him something that he can either use in the pursuit of his favorite pastime, or something that commemorates it, ie: fishing lures for a fisherman, golf tees for a golfer, a billiard clock for a pool player. Just go with what you know he likes and the gift will be a big hit.

Aftershave, bracelet, concert tickets, cds, dvds, sunglasses or anything that may be an interest of his like sports or something...
