Thomson's plum pudding model (I call it the chocolate chip cookie dough model) centered on the electron particles being the only ones that existed in the atom( like chocolate chips in the positive charged dough). Imagine shooting a 22 or 38 calibre bullet into chocolate chip cookie dough and you would get the same results as Rutherford expected when he sent Geiger and Marsten to do the alpha scattering experiment. ALL of the alpha particles would have passed through without interruption in their paths.
