yeast infections arent (usually) caused by 'dirtiness'. Its usually caused by hormones. Pregnant women get them repeatedly. So do young women going through puberty.

Monastat(i think thats the name) helps really well. you can get it at Wal-Mart.

You can usually tell when you have a yeast infection by:
You itch A LOT down there...
It smells real bad.
theres a whitish film you feel and get on you when you scratch... lol thats gross and graphic but thats how it is...

well generally those things describe a yeast infection. If it smells and your having more of a off whiteish charge it is likely that you do have one. it may be only itchy sometimes because different things facter in the itch. If you have been sweaty or your PH is messed up after sex or your clothes are too tight and you take alot of baths. There is an over the counter treatment by monistat that I have used and if the infection isn't too bad it generally works. Also sleep naked at night allows your body to get some air which will decrease the sweaty moisture and minimize the changes of yeast infection. Also try to stay away from eating alot of processed sugars like candy that just makes yeast grow more. hope this helped.

There are 2 different infections you could have vaginally. One is a yeast infection, which is treatable with monostat or the pill Diflucan. The other infection is vaginosis. It happens when the PH levewls in your vagina are off for some reason. It causes itchiness, and the odor, but no discharge. You could also havce a urinary tract infection which would cause an odor, but pain not itching. I would make an appointment with either your OBGyn or your family doctor, ASAP...Cause less face it, infections of any sort "Down There" are pretty uncomfy...Good Luck!

Yeast infections are very common and almost all women get them at least once in their lifetime. You're itchy you say. Do you smell down there as well? You could go to your gyno and get a test, or by some over the counter yeast infection medicine. They are little inserts that go into your vagina and will cure you within 3-5 days.

You can always make an appointment with your Gyno. Or get an over-the-counter medication and see if that helps you out. I used to get them frequently when my fiance' and I started living together and I became sexually active. My advice is to buy that "Summer's Eve" feminine wash. I use it every day, especially after sex and when I'm on and right after my period. The yeast infection is generally caused by your pH balance being off. These things help with that. Another thing that I had to do was to switch from wearing silky underwear, thongs, and tight pants. The yeast like to grow in dark, warm, damp areas. After I started making these changes to my everyday life, they just became few and far between. Good Luck!!!

One thing that could help you out is another over-the-counter remedy. It is a tablet called Acidopholis. You can buy it anywhere, and it helps to prevent an overabundance of yeast from growing. Yogurt also has it in it, but I prefer the pills, they are not expensive, and it's so easy to remember to take. You can find them at any Wal-Mart or herb store near you.

Sounds like a yeast infection. But if you've never had one go to your doctor and get checked. Than they'll probably tell you to take some over the counter..once you've had one and know how it feels you can self medicate but to be safe on the first time go to doc.

BTW, showering daily has nothing to do with cause of yeast infection. It's the drying part..if you don't dry yourself thoroughly than your vaginal area stays moister than it should be which the yeast loves and causes the infection. Certain medications like antibiotics also weaken your system to make you more susceptible to getting yeast infections too.

That could be anything from a yeast infection- to an alergic reaction- to an STD. You didn't say how long it has been bothering you - or if you are sexually active. If it keeps up 2-3 days and your active- call your MD for an exam. If your not sexually active think about any soap or laundry products you may have changed- or if nothign somes to mond try a one day anti yeast med and see if you have improvement in a day or two.

Good luck with that.

If you are in the USA you can go to the drug store and purchase some medication over the counter to end the yeast infection.

It is miserable. I used to get them a lot and back then you had to get a prescription for yeast infection medication: now it is so much easier.

Yeast loves dark moist places. It is always present in our system. Sometimes certain conditions trigger an explosion of the yeast population and that is a yeast infection.

Have you noticed any patterns that cause this itchyness? Like the fabric of your underwear, wearing a tapmon too long, the type of body wash you use, etc. If so, i would stop using what ever is causing the itch or switch so something meant for sensitive skin.

i must warn you that i once though i had a yeast infection because i had the itchyness but i actually had a Urinary Tract Infection (bladder infections for the dumb like me). if it burns when pee or you feel like you have to pee every ten minutes i suggest getting one of those at-home test for UTI. If it shows positive make a doctor/gyno appointment. if it's negative then i suggest getting monastat (sp?).

You can still get yeast infections if you shower.. I shower every day and I get them alll the time. Get checked out by your gyno to know for sure that you have one, and they'll be able to prescribe you something. In the future, you'll know if you get them again and can probably take care of it yourself, with something over the counter, or a home remedy.
