First, I suggest you find out how the get your qualifications evaluated to determine the US equivalent of your degree. I would say that now is not the time to start your own business. Instead, work on building up enough money to move closer to the water. Look for a new, better-paying job or find some extra part-time work. Post some signs around the Business department at the local university offering Chinese tutoring services. With the interest in international business you could get some business that way ($20-$25 per hour). Concentrate really hard on living frugally and saving money so that you can move to the water and towards jobs in your field. Sometimes you just have to suck it up, work hard and wait.

If you want to use your degree and work in your field of education, you will probably need to move. If you are short of cash, you may want to find a job as a waiter or something else until you land a job in marine engineering. You can earn a decent living as a waiter, in the right restaurant, while you continue to seek a position in your chosen field. The first thing you need in income. Then start sending out your resume.

I think the best thing to do is move all your belongings to be closer to the water. Put your application in marine engineering. If you have any shops where you live. You can find a job to hold you over. Look on the Internet, and see if there are any jobs or jobs on line. I think starting your own business is a great Idea. Good luck!

All large buildings need an engineering-type person to run the building's environmental systems--heating, lights, water, other utilities. This facilities engineer has maintenance people working for him, and hands out assignments and manages the department, usually. Contact employment agencies about the possibilities in your area, and go to the large buildings in person to enquire about a facilities engineering position, even as a fill-in for vacations to start with. Be confident.
Also, large apartment comlexes have the same need.
