Earthquakes are not very common in Florida but there was one in the Gulf of Mexico off the Florida coast in September, 2006. It was very weak. Earthquakes can happen anywhere and Florida is no exception. Florida is not on a major fault line, though, so the odds of serious damage from an earthqake are very small.
