Sadly, its true, height is a large issue, it smashes my dreams because for a long time I have trying to pursue a modeling career, and have found some success but not enough. I am five foot two..it is very hard to find a legit modeling agency & bookings! Its all about the connections!

It depends on the type of modeling. Runway and high fashion modeling typically require a model to be about 5'9"-5'10" at least. Commercial models can be much shorter.

The taller the better.
Clothes made by designers are meant for women who are taller and thinner than the average woman.
It's not stupid. Designers want to sell their clothes. Models with tall, thin bodies have clothes that display better.

Most girls are not the same ridiculously impossible proportions of the average "supermodel" either. Go figure.
I do believe though that 5'10 is the shortest models can be.

Well here in Europe you have to be 5/10 to be a model. That if you want to do the cat walk.

They want certain heights because designers want their clothes to flow. MODELS are considered hangers. Designers like girls at least 5'9 and thin. That way they show their clothes off in the best light.

I believe for runway you have to be at least 5'10 or 5'11. But you can do other type of modeling, like commercials.

anything under 5'7" isn't usually accepted. and even if you are 5'7", you're considered super short in the modeling world. you most likely wouldn't be able to do runway.
