Well it depends on the situation, did you give your employer a notice? Sounds like your employer doesn't value as an employee, if you were picked up and put in jail for a few days and got fired, well they have every right to fire you if you didn't show up for work when you were supposed to be, jail is no excuse as an absent from yor job.
So trying to get unemployment is gonna be tuff, but worth a shot.
If you weren't at the job for any length of time you can't collect anyhow.

it depends on the state. in NJ, if you become incarcerated, it is considered that you voluntarily quit your job because you engaged in an act that caused your separation. you should definitely file for benefits, if you are denied, you can appeal. good luck.
