You can buy a special cleaner. Almost all of the popular cosmetics brands sell them. I like the Bare Escentuals cleaner. The brushes that come with the make up are really expensive and of a great quality, and the cleaner is really gentle. Or use mild soap and water, and I'd lightly towel dry, and leave out to dry

I was at a makeup counter a few months ago and I actually saw the lady at the counter cleaning some brushes. What she did was put some liquid facial cleanser on the brush and then with her fingers massage the soap in until it lathered. Then she rinsed the brush and repeated with the cleanser a few more times until the lather had no color (from the make up). Then she let the brush air dry.

If the brushes are made of real horse or goat tail hairs, then I would use a shampoo or a soft soap that was gentle.... and use some warm water,

Then I would dry the brushes with the bristles pointing down. This will keep the brushes to last longer. If you set the brushes down flat or upside down, this can unfasten the glue in the brush to handle area to come unglued. And damage the brushes. So be sure to dry them correctly as well as clean them regularly.

Just wet it with warm water and swirl it against a bar of soap until it's loaded with soap. Then swirl it around and around on the palm of your hand and then rinse with warm water until all the soap is out. if you're not sure it's completely clean then repeat. Shake the brush and lay it down on a counter top or some other place where it can fully dry for few hours.
Regular bar soap not only gets the makeup out of it but will also remove the oils from using it on your face.

Clinique and Estee Lauder have makeup brush cleaner. Its 12 bucks or so.

Before I was using that stuff I was using warm water and some soap but that was starting to ruin my good brushes.

Any each way you want to clean it is fine as long as you don't damage the brush. Mac has a nice mild brush cleanser. usually it does not leave any residue.

I'm sorry to tell you that you cant remove it because that person told you a lie...my daughter Chantice heard that and she did it and she has a small white blotch on her cheeck from it and you have to buy a new one. You can get one for cheap like atg Sally's , Wal-Mart, or K-Mart. Good Luck!

Get the brush cleaner, it is a must, check with those cosmetic counter, they should have one.

Don't use water or shampoo, that will spoil the brush.
