Personally, they are both rock gods and legends.

Tough One!!
Slash is a passionate, soulful axe-man, no matter which band or who is playing with.
Eddie is one of the fore fathers of "technical" guitar techniques.
He invented the art of "tapping" and other fascinating lick luster's.
Eruption is one of the best guitar only songs ever.
However, Slash is one of the masters of the melodic and passionate solos.
Great question. Tough, but difficult to chose a favorite amongst the two.
You are dead on in your opinion as far as both being legends!

I'm gonna go with Eddie Van Halen for the simple reason being Bill and Ted didn't want to learn how to play like Slash(and Slash probably wanted to play like Eddie too.)_

Slash. More personality. Besides what has Eddie Van Halen done lately?

Slash is way cooler, but I think Eddie van Halen is the better guitarist.

You are so right, they are. That's why I can't choose. On one hand, Eddie is the man, was there from the beginning and has wowed audiences for ages. Slash, on the other hand is the bomb, he just oozes talent and he adapts well to change.

How does one choose?....

They are both great players for their style. Eddie invented his own sound and style that was repeated by many groups and and
players since 1979. For that reason I say Eddie.

PLEASE!!! NO COMPARISON....Eddie Van Halen......carried almost two decades of rock. Slash? GNR and some side projects whoppie. Now, Slash is talented, but his overall impact to the industry as compared to Eddie's massive impact - no comparison.

Both are great but I give the nod to Eddie because of his longevity. I have to say though that Appetite for Destruction is one of the best of all time.
