You need to reprioritize time and learning. You do not need to give up BB but you need to prioritize time for learning as well. If you can retain plays you can retain knowledge. You need to associate new things with what you know. Getting grades up takes some time because you have fallen into bad habits. How does the coach break you of bad basketball habits? Use that to break yourself of the putting off studying and retaining. Your quizes are not your only thing you are graded on. Put extra effort into your homework and class participation.

well, the fact that you study and "forget" it all when you are tested means two things, well, maybe three but i dont wanna be rude. One is that you arent learning the stuff in class like you should, and two is that you dont study well. I see it with my gf's kids, they just arent getting the basics down, and the way they "study" is scandalous, you will NOT retain information when you have the tv on while you are laying on the bed with the mp3 playing rap music and call this studying. Not to mention that his note taking skills are atrocious to nonexistent. I suggest you get a tutor, and maybe dont bother with the basketball till you get the basics mastered.

Im only in middle school here in california but im suppose to be a sophomore in the philippines coz there is no middle schools there. im 1 of the star students in my level there i was like 3rd/4th best... i got strait As. im not even gud at speaking english so i have esl class.

i dont rily study or anything, im rily a lazy being. just participate carefully and listen in class.. study hour are good and memorizing even though i dont do that, wen im graduating in elementary i made a speech of my own but im too lazy to memorize, my teacher says how i become a salutatorian but i don mind it at all..

taking notes is a good idea but quite embarassing for me..... like a geek or something... ur playing basketball often well im always out of the house not playing but with friends walking anywer evrywer. during passing periods you can take a quick glimpse on ur works b4 ur tests so u can pic it on ur mind.....

Take notes in class. Anything repeated more than once write it down. Read over your notes everyday. It should all come back automatically then while taking the test. Get
stumped on one question on the test, continue on with the rest. Then go back and work on that one.
Perhaps you have been trying to memorize too much.

Study then find someone to talk to about what you studied. I forget too when it comes to test time. But I found if I discuss it with someone I will remember the conversation.

Keep studying and stuff, but approach your teachers and tell them you're concerned about your grade in their class. More than likely, they will be willing to find some way to help you help yourself. Extra credit opportunity, maybe?

I say you need to learn to learn, but not learn to memorize. That way knowing the information comes naturally.
