I recently got served with a lawsuit from the movie industry for downloading 2 movies. I payed for the site called lightspeed movies.com and they said on the site that it was unlimited downloads for free movies, I paid 29.00 for the access and now im being sued for it. Anyone else in the same situtation out there. They should be suing the site where I paid my money too and was mislead. Now for 2 movies they are asking for $8000.00 settlement for me to pay them, just does not seem fair to me at all, Heck I can hardly pay my bills and they asking a arm and a leg from me for something i was lead to be LEGAL from the site I mentioned, I Live in a rural area in texas and I cant even get legal representation for this because no lawyers here no how to defend a case like this.

You should not pay the amount being asked. Deny the fee and prove that you were allowed to access to their site knowing that what you did was not prohibited. They should stop the downloading if no payment was made. Prove that you did the downloading in good faith.

first, stop downloading and uploading movies. I was sued first by the MPAA and then by some video game copyright company. But they were just warnings, and i stopped. You can tell them you have a wireless router and someone must have been downloading stuff from your connection.

Are you sure the notice of the lawsuit is legitimate? If you really want to get out of it, you should find a lawyer in a big city.

Basically it sounds like that program was a torrent site, which are free, and still illegal. You probably paid for the program, not the movies. Bittorrent is legal, but most people use it for illegal purposes such as copyrighted material.
