Back when america was growing up, every immigrant wanted to fit in, and they thus learned english, and got a job working in America and were proud to call themselves an AMERICAN! Now, people almost take it as an insult, they want to be called, 25% mexican, 50% african, and 25% Puerto Rican... WTF?

It's about recognizing your identity, and not wanting to be generically assimilated. I'd think most people are still proud to be called American, yet retain a lot of their ethnic roots. If you were transfered or reassigned to say........France....would you readily drop your native language and identity and just become 100% French?

We should do away with all titles like "hey that guy is a _____ American". None of that should matter. If your an American, your an American, your an American. And anyone who lives here most certainly should learn English. No one goes to Mexico or France and demands they speak English, and we're the only country that will put up with that sort of nonsense. America needs to get strong again and begin preserving its language instead of splitting into a bilingual society, which has never EVER in history served to make a nation stronger.

it was the same back then...there was diversity, but they were treated like crap...don't you think it would be nice to at least have a fair system. There was a situation where a slave owner was approached to have his slaves muck out a hole and demolish a bridge over a sizable river...it was dangerous and brutal work...the slave owner said "I'm not gonna ruin my slaves, get some Irishmen to do it, it would be cheaper anyway"...he found Irish men, who were hungry and desperate enough to do the work...this is America's past...how about a better future...corporations and individuals use immigrant labor as slave labor...I am against having huge influxes of illegals here, but hey, I don't have any working for me...punish those using them (and mistreating them)

Some one said it was good to be proud of your heritage. Some folk, hear something different like It is good to be anti-somatic and isolate all those who are different than you. Go figure. I am not just talking about you but all those people who are you speak of as well.

I think it's because they want to destroy what Amercia stands for. They don't really care about the people, just the money in the law suits. In the end all they want is a world government, with the UN at the ruling possition.

I think liberals like diversity so much because they can seperate everyone into groups then tell us when and why certian groups should get along with the other and be mad at each other.

Liberals understand that diversity is a natural to those whom are diverse and hence are happy to accept diversity.....

Because it takes away from the phrase, "Proud to be an American."

Their definition of diversity is a little strange. They think diversity is a group of people who all look different but think the same.
I have no idea why any one thinks that this is important.
