The funnest activity I participated in was called Odyssey of the Mind. There were different tracks that you could compete in depending on if you were more interested in the arts or engineering-type stuff or whatever. It was a team thing and you had a few months to work on a particular project and then you would go to a competition and go up against other teams. At the competition you'd also have a short-term problem where they'd take you into a room and give you the problem and you'd have like 10 minutes to work with your team to come up with a solution on the spot. Probably geeky to a lot of people, but it was a lot of fun!

There are dozens of groups and activities to get involved in in school! The main thing is to GET INVOLVED! Students involved in band, chorus, athletics, academic teams, StuCo, Bible study groups, Scouts, 4-H, FCA, FFA, FHA, Foreign Language Club, Business Club, Future Teachers Associations, Math Club, etc...usually do much better in their classes because they have a sense of pride, belonging, and community with their school. In many instances, they are also just busy enough to help keep them out of trouble! You develop a bonding friendship with and learn from the sponsors and other students with similar interests. How will you know where your strengths lie if you never try these areas out?
