I've answered this question several times in the last few days. You should seach for questions before asking for basic information. Here are some of my RECENT answers:

"I taught ESL in Italy.

The day after my university graduation ceremony I moved to Spain and did the CELTA. After that I found a job at a private language school in Italy and flew out there for work. It took three weeks of living in a youth hostel before I found an apartment! The EU ESL market is only open to people with EU passports. If you don't have EU citizenship you'll be looking for jobs in Asia and South America.

I suggest that you do your TESL course in the country where you want to work. It means you'll make some friends right away and be available immediately for job offers. Also, most countries nowadays require teachers to have an initial undergraduate degree in addition to their TESL/TEFL certification. Online TESL certificates are useless - you need to do one that includes supervised teaching practice."

"Each country has different immigration standards. Many countries require people to have a Bachelor's degree to get a work permit. Other countries that don't require degrees for immigration purposes still have enough candidates to pick and choose- so they choose the candidates with the highest credentials.

If you want to teach in Europe the CELTA is the best choice. For work in the Asian market you have a bit more flexibility. Whatever you choose, make sure it's an in-class course that includes supervised teaching practice. No supervised teaching practice = not worth the paper it's printed on. I would suggest doing your TEFL course in the country where you want to work, because you'll make friends faster and be available immediately for any job openings."

To teach in a private language school (for-profit) you would need a Bachelor's degree and a TEFL certificate. In Europe, the biggest name in TEFL is the CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults). A Bachelor's degree is not a legal requirement for Portugal, but it's almost essential to be competitive in the job market (especially if you don't have prior experience).

To work in a public school you would need an undergraduate degree and teaching certification (either a PGCE or a B.Ed, depending on where you're from). It would help to have some experience working with ESL learners in a public school environment.

To work in a university you would need an undergraduate degree and a Master's degree in either TESOL or Applied Linguistics. Experience working at the university level would also help, of course.

If you're looking into for-profit schools, check the first link. I would apply to an IH school before any other, personally. I would also suggest doing your CELTA in Portugal, as you'll have more opportunities to network and you'll be available for any immediate job openings. Inlingua (third link) or other similar schools like Berlitz would not be my first choice, but Inlingua often has openings in Porto."

See the link to another question below for some useful links. And seriously, learn to research. You're just wasting people's time by asking the same questions over and over and over.

Transvestic Excellent Skill Levels is something I have studied all my life. It is so nice that there are people who teach it now days. I had to learn through the school of hard knocks.
