Why not update your other question before starting a brand new one?
Originally your bus would have came with a 2000cc fuel injected motor, as all buses meant for the US market went to FI in 1975. This was done in great part do to the fact VW needed to lower the emissions of there air-cooled motors and FI gave them a lot more control over there motors, so better control leads to a cleaner motor. As well VW had been using Bosch FI systems on there Type 3's since 1968, so this wasn't anything new to them. Here is some more info: It would have come with an engine with the block number GD which was in a group of motors known as a Type 4 engine. Type 4 refers to the line of cars these motors where original designed for (The Bus is a Type 2) and as well a version of this motor was all so used in the Porsche 914. It's really a very good, solid motor.
Now this is what your bus had back in 1978, but you have provided no information for anyone to tell you what it currently has. Be warned as these cars got older a lot of people would just pull the FI stuff out rather than troubleshoot it; even today this is very common. Plus the limited number and cost of replacement parts doesn't help. Another bit of information you’re going to need is your engines block code and number. It is very easy to swap the motors in old Volkswagens, so god knows what you’re currently had in there. So, to answer the FI question: Do you have pictures? If so email them to me patrickm2213@yahoo.com and I'll tell you what you’re looking at to the best of my knowledge. Or I can send you diagrams of the FI system if you think you can figure them out. Either way, let me know. Really none of this is going to take much trouble to figure out, but it will be worth it to you since it can all effect what the bus is worth to buyer that knows the hobby.

I searched it and I can't find anything that says anything about a carburetor. I know some years have either but I think this one is fuel injected. I suggest going to a local auto shop... they will tell you quickly and for free :)

It is a flat 4 carburated engine. Sell it. And by the way, the engine is in the back.
