It's an excellent career choice. Librarians have to know much more than how to shelve books -- today's librarians have to be experts in a half dozen fields, including marketing, to encourage people to make better use of their libraries, and statistical studies, to understand the kinds of books required for each library, and have to understand how to use computers and internet and work with that knowledge to encourage library users to add the new medium to their repertoire of information and entertainment bases.
It's interesting, it's fun, and it is vitally important to special sectors of the local population who, without the outreach of librarians, might never learn how to use and enjoy that rich resource.

Why not...if you love doing it. We do something because we enjoy doing it...or because of the renumeration or payment we can get out of it. If you're after for the salary you can get...then try to weigh and consider if it is sufficient enough for your needs ...but if it's because you love books and want to have an easy access to all the books you want to explore ...then being a librarian is a good career choice.

sure, why not? The money is as good as many other jobs, and you work in a quiet clean place, with ac or heat. I worked as a librarian aide for several years, it was ok work, i had a lot of time to read. Now i work in the merchant marines, i am gone for months at a time, and the work is hot, loud, and dirty.

It just depends on how you are geared. If you like books and all the sorting and filing that I assume goes on, that might be a good move on your part. What would the paycheck be like? Could you live a decent lifestyle on it? Every heart beats to the sound of a different drummer. Good luck

why not? you go for it. it might be a little boring but, think about it this way , you're working in a quiet comfortable place, how cool is that? also you read books, become even more educated and maybe if the oppurtunity passes you could get a better job, you never know, so i think you should go for it.
