Holy cow have you been lead astray. Asparagus contains high levels of the amine acid asparagine. This amino acid is water soluble, so excess asparagine is flushed out of your body in your urine. This amino acid has a strong smell.

You contain a gene that processes a certain chemical in the asparagus which results in strong odor in your urine. Unfortunately, i have forgotten the name of the chemical. Certain ethnic groups collectively have the gene for the most part, while others do not. If you ever come across the book "why do men have nipples" this question is addressed. Its a pretty funny and interesting book.

Asparagus contains methyl mercaptan, which is broken down in the body to several smelly sulfur-containing compounds which are eliminated in the urine. See the following link for details:

"Not everyone has smelly urine shortly after eating asparagus, but many do. About half of the population will notice this odor after eating asparagus because of the sulfur-containing amino acids which break down after ingestion"
From the web site below.

How near is your nostril to the bowl while you pee? Just pondering, you can also desire to position extra distance among your nostril and the pot with the urine in it. And it is considering that of amino acids that holiday down into sulphites.
