Barbie's sister was Skipper. Ken was created as her boyfriend and husband. The wedding set had been created some time back if memory serves me correctly. Midge was the first friend. Later on came the other ones. Mattel created Midge to expand the mode of play. There after came various other dolls that Mattel created to expand their Barbie line and profits. Barbie's really best friend is the consumer. The buyer had made and continues to make Barbie's place in the toy business so recognizeable both in the USA and abroad.
