Any time you lose conciousness BINGO you had a concussion.

The sharp pain can be treated with Ibuprofin (Motrin) if you have swelling which is great to reduce swelling and pain.

Headaches are best suited for Acetominophen. (Tylenol)

The sharp pain could be becuse getting up quickly affects blood flow to your head. That would increase blood pressure slightly and cause some discomfort.

If you like you could check for a cut too that can keep you having a sharp pain.

You may want to get it checked out though if pain relivers don't help.

PS take yourself if your mom is a dookie head!

If she's skeptical, she should call the pediatrician, or a doctor, and ask THEM whether or not she should bring you in. A concussion can be very, very serious. Sometimes they are nothing. Doctors can't usually tell which way they will go, that's why, in the interest of saving your life, they usually like you to come in.

If you were my daughter I would have called the doctor as soon as I found out, and probably brought you in after school. And I would've been pleased if it had been nothing.

If you still have a pediatrician, they are used to off-hours calls. Otherwise, call a local medical-emergency line or your local emergency room. Then do what they suggest.

listen, i know I'm saying "the obvious", but just in case --

make SURE you communicate exactly how you feel to your mom. Saying "my head hurts sometimes" may not be as effective as saying, "every time I stand up, there is this SHARP pain." Exaggerate a little for her if you have to, if it really is that bad. You could just have a headache. That's probably what she's thinking. But it's always best to check it out. But for all you know, maybe your health insurance ran out or whatever. Just keep on her, ok! I'm sure she's worried. The fact that you can read and type and stuff, probably means you're fine. But if every time you stand up, you have a problem, well, that needs checked if it's not obviously getting better.

all head injuries should be checked out by a doctor. Do you get dizzy when you stand up? And the sharp pains is something to worry about. Yes you need to go tell your mother to take you in I know from experience head injuries is not something to wait on.

If you are in Ontario, call this number: 1-888-797-0000 There are nurses there who can help you. A great service, put your mom on the phone if she doesn't believe you. What, is she on drugs or something? Is a trip to the ER for her daughter going to put a crimp in her Friday night plans? I can't believe she's acting that way. You obviously need a doc, but if she doesn't believe you, call that number. Then put her on the phone with the nurse to hear for herself.

Just go to the doctor. My friend likes to fix cars, and she had the car door latch loosened, she thought it was gonna stay on. Unfortunatlly, it fell on her head. She had a small concussion. Thankfully, she had a friend with her at the time. Anyways, just tell her yes you think so and go to the doctor so you can go.

Your mother needs to get HER head checked. If you have recurring sharp pains, there is obviously something wrong. Better safe than sorry.

Go to the ER, you need to have an xray to rule out a bleed vs a concussion. I am a nurse so please listen and go. It is best to know than not know and have something very serious.
