oh i found the answer already. the spaniards just forced our surnames before from indigenous Filipino into their Spanish counterparts. honest: I DONT REALLY HAVE A SPANISH BLOOD. FILIPINOS ARE PURE MALAYS.

if i would have to show my physical features to you people, you would assume me as Indonesian or Vietnamese, okay. it's not the end of the world for me. i was just asking. anything wrong with that?

oh i kinda agree with you....I'M ALSO A FILIPINO but I'M NOT A CATHOLIC.....
I'M A MUSLIM and my name is IBRAHIM AZZIZ and I'M NOT EVEN AN ARAB....
dont listen to them because Filipinos are Asians its just that we are brutally conquered by Spain. yet i'm proud eventhough my ancestors were colonized by those Spanish, we never became like Latinos with Latino names... i dont hate Catholic Filipinos but you should stand up for yourself and tell them you are truly Asian by heart and spirit, not through using your name as a proof you are not...
get what i mean?

I'm familiar with Philippine history, the Spanish occupation. Chances are, you have traces of Spanish blood, and it appears your name is an indication of such. There is a subset of people in this world who are one racial/ethnic strain and their name indicates yet a different one. I am in that category myself. Take solace in that old adage, "a rose by any other name smells just as sweet" and embrace individualism. And take the worst-case scenario that, if you were somehow classified as a Latino by some, would it be the end of the world? Latinos are a proud lot, highly spirited and full of life, and currently overwhelming the U.S. with their influx and numbers. By the year 2050, they will be every fourth American and will undoubtedly have significant power and influence as they have been everywhere and are located in well over 2/3 of all nations. Viva la raza.

Most people would assume that you are Latino based on your name being Spanish. However, once they know you are South-east Asian, they will refer to you as being SE Asian, not Latino.

Chances are that my first impression, by virtue of your name, would be that you are Latino. However, if we had a chance to chat, I'd probably find out you were Philippino (sp?). On the other hand, why should it make a difference? Is one better than the other?

You're name doesn't give you your nationality.
I think it's wrong that people judge your nationality by your name..
If they were looking at your skin color or something than it would be a different story..
I'm happy I could help if I did but if I didn't then I'm sorry for that....
